Mr. Petite began his career in wireless enabled devices when he created a personalized security system in which a portable transmitter could be carried and activated by an individual in need of assistance by transmitting data specifically relating to that person. Mr. Petite’s subsequent work in wireless networking, remote control and activation and monitoring of wireless enabled devices developed into a myriad of applications, and his technology has been applied to a variety of sectors including the health care, financial institution, security and utility industries. Mr. Petite founded StatSignal Systems, Inc. in the early 1990s, which patented and introduced wireless mesh technology to the utility and health care industries. Today, Mr. Petite is recognized as one of the first key inventors of wireless ad hoc networks, otherwise known as Wireless Mesh Technology. The technology he created is being used throughout the industry, including the development of the widely adopted Smart Meter. Recently recognized by the Georgia State Senate for “his innovations in wireless technology and his incredible career in engineering and invention,” Mr. Petite remains active in his contributions to the industry. Mr. Petite is an Atlanta native and son of a Chippewa Chief from the Wisconsin tribe. He continues to extol and embrace his treasured family heritage and is the founder of the Native American Intellectual Property Enterprise Council, a non-profit organization that provides direct support and education to and for Native American inventors, Tribes and Native Owned Businesses. Mr. Petite was also recently selected to serve on the Professional Awards Selection Committee of the American Indian Science Engineering Society. Both SIPCO, LLC and INTUSIQ are privately held, certified Native American Owned Businesses. Mr. Petite currently resides in Atlanta with his wife, the former Candida Stevens, of Gloucestershire, England. |
